December 2004 Fishing Report

Hey, December is here and it is starting off to be a great month. Our first fishing trip was with Kirk and Peggy from Sunny Isles and they caught a kingfish and 2 nice amberjacks. On the 3rd Mike, Steve, Nicholas, Patrick and Jim from Arkansas, Kentucky and Ft. Lauderdale went out with us and they had a great time bringing in a hand full of snappers for their dinner that night. Enjoy guys!! On the 4th we were joined by Joe, Dave, Will and Ernie from West Virginia and they landed a really nice cobia. The morning of the 5th Cameron, James, Tony and John from Canada were on the Hooked Up and they all enjoyed catching snappers. Our first trip on the 6th was with Katie and Jeramie from Minnesota and they caught a jack and all the snappers they could handle. That afternoon Joe, Jack, John, Paul and Mike from New York went out with us and they caught a real nice golden amberjack and several snappers. On the 7th we were joined by our good friend Pete from here in Ft. Lauderdale and 3 friends of his from Oregon. After NOT enough beers, One of the guys from Oregon named "Candy Bar" insisted on luring the fish in with what he descirbed as "Oregon Style". He fed them by the head, did a little dance, prayed at the stern of the boat and then slept. Sure enough, it worked, Lee and Brian both caught fish. "Candy Bar" wasn't much of a fisherman, but he's not a bad dancer! On the 8th, Brad and Jeff from here in Ft. Lauderdale joined us and they had a great time catching a sailfish, 2 blacktip sharks and a hugh amberjack! Nice fishing guys! On the 9th we were joined by Wayne, JR, Peter, Lou, Bird and Dave, a really rowdy group from Philly, and they caught two 20# gag groupers, a kingfish and a jack. That afternoon Brian, Patty and John from Maryland and Washington DC went out with us and they had a super afternoon catching 2 sailfish! John and Brian came back on the 10th and brought Steve and Pat with them as well as their sailfish luck...and they ended up doing catch and releases with 3 really nice sailfish! Great fishing guys and we will see you again! It is always good to see people we have fished with before come back and have another good trip! Well, I have to tell you, today, Dec 13 was truly a happy day today to be sportfishing on the water off of Ft. Lauderdale. We fished with Jeff Rudd the owner of a local bar, the Treasure Trove, which is located right on Fort Lauderdale beach. Jeff brought one of his bar tenders George, and a few of his regular customers Pete, Charles, and Catfish. Needless to say we were in search of some Big Game or some Monster fish and instead of paying attention to the fishing we got to having such a great time, with the atmosphere on the boat being just like it is in his bar, nobody noticed a big sailfish eating 1 of our baits! So, I am ashamed to say, we wiffed it. Well, after some finger pointing and everybody blaming everyone else for our misfortune we decided to tightenup and catch something we could all eat for dinner. And boy, did we get lucky, we caught a big grouper. After some high fiving and some hand shaking we all hauled our big catch over to Jeff's bar and man did his cook have a great recipe for grouper. Guys thanks for a great day can't wait to do it again. To everyone reading this, if you are in Ft. Lauderdale stop by the Treasure Trove and experience a great time at Jeff's bar!On the 18th Mike, Nick, Lisa, Mike, Mary, and Tiffany from Phoenix started the day out great catching live ballahoo and the water looked great but we ran out of luck and time and never did catch that sailfish they were after. That same afternoon we were joined by Jeff, J, Ronnie, and Tim from Boston who were in search of some Big Game and along with some skill and lady luck they landed a really nice dolphin and and then another line got hit so Jeff took the rod and won the battle with a very large sailfish. Great going guys but I have to admit I hope your New England Patriot luck changes Monday night when you play the dolphins. See you guys again soon! On the 19th Cindy, Leslie, Lou, and Glen from Weston Florida caught 2 Monster amberjacks during our morning trip and that afternoon we went back to the same spot with Bob and Joe from Boston and caught some snappers and a real nice grouper. Charter fishing in Ft. Lauderdale was really good on the 21st. We were joined by Don Mudd, from north Carolina, who has fished with us and joined us on a dinner cruise and Chris from Tampa and the enjoyed the day catching 5 nice dolphin fish and a Monster sailfish. It was really nice seeing you again Don. On the 23rd the sailfish and the dolphin fish shut off but we did manage to catch Logan, Coldy, Linsey, Mark, Jerry, and Dave from,Missouri a box full of kingfish. On the 24th Joseph,Raymond,Sharbel,Nabil, and Raymond of Holly Wood F.L. caught 4 kingfish 1 nice amberjack and some snappers. That same afternoon Ken and Jessica from Detroit and Preua and John from N.Y caught a Monster amberjack and a nice kingfish
On the 25th we all stayed home and opened presents. On the 26th Gator from Maryland along with some friends Jerry and Mitch from Ft. Laurdale and Charles and Chuck from Lake Land joined us and we caught some real nice kingfish and one huge amberjack. The next day Gator joined us agian along with Mitch and Jerry and we started off catching the kingfish really well, in fact we had to start throwing them back since we were soon over our limit. We also had a shot at a sailfish but he got away, but then we did bring in an almaco jack. On the 26th we all stayed home with family, but on the 27th Mitch from Fort Lauderdale and Robert from Maryland and Jerry from Sunrise had a Happy Day Today charter fishing off Fort Lauderdale and caught 6 nice kingfish and a monster almoco jack. Then on the 28th Todd and Mark brought their kids for a cruise down the intercoastal to try to catch a tarpon or some barracudas but fishing was slow inside. We did manage to spot about 20 manantees (sea cows). We were a little nerves about going outside because there was some Monster waves out there but we gave it a shot any way, that only lasted for about 30 min. On the 29th my old freand Ken from N Y brought his buddy Andrew from Sarasota, Florida to try to catch a sailfish we had 1 shot but the fish would not eat so we settled for some bottom fishing and caught a Monster amberjack. On the 30th Bo, Ralph, Buck, Nick, and Dylan from Weston FL and North Carolina caught 5 kingfish and 2 bonitas. That same afternoon Eric and Heather from Detroit were catching bait fish we they tied into a gaint rainbow runner on 6 pound test line it took 20 min but they finally caught it. Nice going guys. On the 31st we had all had enough of the rough weather so we stayed in and caught nothing but we got the boat cleaned up. Talk to you next yearm, Captain Taco, Captain Mike and Corey!
