The 3rd of January was one of those days that really makes me proud to be working on a charter boat off Ft. Lauderdale. One of my best customers and a dear friend Todd Bennitt from Michigan brought his son Josh and he caught his 1st sailfish. Then his nephew Zack caught his 1st sailfish at the same time (a double header) great job guys. Than Aaron got his shot at one but it was a little choppy and he was not feeling very good so Todd helped him out. Great job guys, 3 sailfish in less than a hour. On the 5th John from Houston, Texas and Bryan from Tulsa, Oklahoma and Brandon from Greensboro, North Carolina caught a dolphin, 2 kingfish, and 6 good eating snappers. That same afternoon Pat, Russ, and Brad all from Tulsa O.K. caught a couple of bonitas. On the 7th we had 4 guys who did not know each other join us for a split party. The fishing was slow for Keith, Rob, Nick, and Bob we only caught 2 bonitas and a black tip shark., but to add a little excitement to the trip we did get a big surprise when a blue marlin jumped on one of our baits he got away but it sure was a treat to see him jumping. On the 8th we had Tom from Pitt, Steve from Denver, Colorado and Steve from Seattle,Washington and we caught a nice sailfish the we tryed to bait a very large hammerhead shark but he just would not eat anything we put in front of him but it was neat to watch him. On the 9th we were joined by Dennis, Bryant, Dischino and Little John from Wellesley, Massachusetts and although the fishing slowed down they brought in a couple of kingfish and a nice golden amberjack. On the 11th and 12th we fished with Lowell and Tom from Boston, Massachusetts and the fishing was still slow but they were able to catch some kingfish and snappers. Our next trip was on the 15th and we were joined by Jeff, Merrill and Al from New Jersey and they caught kingfish and dolphin fish. We had 2 trips on the 18th and finally the fishing picked up a little bit. The morning trip was with Dan, Cole, Curt, Denny and Frank from Houston, Texas and Georgia and they caught some dolphin fish, an amberjack and then a nice sailfish. Then in the afternoon we fished with Larry and Al from Minnesota, Tim from Tennessee, David from Kentucky and Fred from Illinois and they landed a monster Sailfish! Nice Catch! The afternoon of the 22nd Terry and some friends joined us and they caught 5 kingfish and 2 sailfish. Great Going Guys! On the 27th we were joined by Robert, a regular customer, from here in Ft. Lauderdale, and he wanted a sailfish, but unfortunately they just were not biting so we ended up with kingfish. That afternoon Ray, Matt, Nick, Rich, Mike, and Don from Long Island went out and they caught kingfish and bonita's. On the 28th Mike from Boca Raton, Florida, Tom from Wilmington, Delaware and Mark from Portland, Oregon were on the Hooked Up and they caught 3 kingfish and a nice sailfish. On the 29th we had Ben, Courtney, Ted, and John from Tallahasse Florida and we caught a nice dolphin and had a big sailfish on but he got away. Then on the 30th we had Luis, Paula, Max, Lynn, Debbie and Paul from New York and we had a ball caughing 12 nice kingfish. That afternoon we had Mike and Mike from Pembroke Pines Florida and we caught 4 kingfish. On the last day of the month we had Ken, Larry, Jerry, Judy, Louise and Greg and they had a great time catching 7 king fish.
