Well on the 25th of July my son Luis and I headed out for Bimini to join up with one of our reguler custmers. Todd Benett from Midland MI. We ended up hooking up about 4pm that afternoon so we had some drinks and some dinner.
That next morning we headed out trolling south we were headed for a little island called Ocean Kay. It was about 18 miles south so we were trolling our way down and everybody drew straws to see who would get to catch the first fish. Todd had brought along all his close friends he brought his engineer Rich and his environmental guy Roland his lawyer Mark and of course he had to bring his preacher Taylor. And yes Todd did draw the shortest straw so he was last.
However the first fish to hit was a blue marlin and yes you guessed it Todd jumped in the chair. And of course as luck would have it,the fish hit one of the smallest rods we had out a 6-O Penn senator so we had our hands full. And as luck would have it while we were fighting the fish,a huge school of dolphin came up to the boat. They were the fish we were looking for in the first place but not now. There were so many that we started getting worried that one of them would bump into the line with our big fish on and break him off.
However that did not happen and about 40 min later we caught him and we estimated him at about 200 pounds, we took a measurement and released the big one. Todd you really did a great job on the fish.
After that it was about 3000 degrees out so we all went swimming for a while. Than we did some deep drops and caught a few yellow eye snappers. On our way back to Bimini I took some garlic and some butter and cooked the yellow eye snappers and man I got to tell you that is some of the best sea food you can eat.
All in all we ended up catching 1 blue marlin 8 yellow eye snappers about 20 yellow tail snappers and about 1,000,000 barracudas. Hey guys thanks for a great time and looking forward to seeing you guys again soon.
After they flew out, my first wife Marie and my daughter Sam flew in and we caught more yellow eye snappers, lots of yellow tail snappers, a few little dolphin and my daughter Sam caught 1 of the biggest sail fish ever caught on the Hooked Up - a 91 inch sail - way to go Sam.
Well our first day back in Fort Laudable Charter Fishing was Aug the 2nd and we took out Blake, Justin, Brad, and Josie from Michigan and we trolled for most of the trip and ended up catching 3 bonitos, 1 kingfish and 3 nice barracudas. Than we put out some shark baits and caught a real nice dusky shark. Great going guys.
Than on the 3rd we had Dallas, Wendy, Jessica, and Jeff from Illinois and we did pretty good trolling around. We caught 7 nice kingfish and 3 bonitos. Than we went off shore looking for some dolphin but we never did find them.

That same afternoon Steve and his wife Rota and their two children Nick and McKenna spent the afternoon fishing with us. Fishing was good - we caught 2 nice dolphin kingfish and huge sailfish. Thanks for a great afternoon guys looking -forward to fishing with you guys again soon. And thanks for the pictures.

That same afternoon we took out Craw Dad and thought we would try our luck at nighttime fishing for swordfish. On our way out we did manage to catch a nice dolphin. Then as the sun started to set we started putting out our swordfish baits. It was a perfect night, all the stars were out and the ocean was as calm as it gets. We had nonstop action, one bite after another. We ended up catching two swordfish, one about 80 pounds and one about 180 pound. Ken thanks for a night of fishing that I will never forget. And thank you very much for the very nice tip. Looking forward to fishing with you again in Jan.
On the 8th, Jarrod, Jessica, Tyler, Jodie, Bruce and Brain from Kansas had a great time. We caught kingfish, bonitos and a hammerhead shark.
On the 10th Eva, Jake, Cory and Marry from Connecticut caught a box full of kingfish and bonitos and a nice amberjack.
Than on the 12th DJ, Steve, Pam, Earl' Chiquita and Demetrius from Miami, Florida and from Maryland spent the morning with us and I think we were supposed to be fishing? But I got to tell you these people had so much fun just drinking there beer telling jokes and yes dancing that one could not help but to join in thanks for a fun day on the water guys see you again next month. O yea by the way we did catch some fish to we caught a box full of kingfish and a monster amberjack. It has been brought to my attantion that my spelling and grammar has not been very good on my fishing reports. I am sorry and well do my best to get better. I am a fisherman at heart so please bear with me.
On the 13th Robert, Paul, Luis, Alex, Roger and Jim from Fort Laurdale and from Miami spent the day fishing with us. Things started out pretty normal we caught 9 kingfish and a few bonitos trolling on the reef. We went off shore looking for some dolphin. We told them that it had been pretty slow out there but we would do our best. Boy were we in for a surprise Mike put out our regular dolphin spread but he also put out 1 deep line on the plainer thinking we might catch a Wahoo. All of a sudden the deep line started pealing out line and we were connected to something very large. We fought this fish for about 25 min and finally landed a 62 inch 45 pound dolphin. How about that you just never know. Great going guys we are looking forward to seeing you guys again soon.
The 14th luck seems to stay on our side we took out Jar, Alexander, Andreas, Anton and Minnie from Holland. We started out trolling the reef and we caught 12 kingfish (our limit) in about one hour so than we decided to go off shore again and before we knew it we were connected to a huge sailfish. It took about 25 min but we finally did catch it we took a measurement of the fish and watched him swim away. Great day guys thanks again for everything. Than on the 19th Elisa, Diego, Ariana, Emilio and DeMola from Stamford Connecticut caught 2 yellowtail snappers, 3 bonitos and a nice kingfish.
On the 20th Ben, Dayan, Virginia from Cooper City Florida spent the morning with us but fishing was very slow we ended up catching a nice kingfish. Sorry about those guys we sure hope we get a chance to make it up to you.
Well on the 22nd Jon, Brent, Gary and Jim from Tenn., Texas, Virginia went fishing with us in the morning trip. Things started out pretty normal trolling on the reef. We caught some kingfish and some bonitos. Than we went off shore and found a big piece of wood and ended up catching 5 nice Wahoo. Great day guys. That same afternoon we took out Don, Reid and Dave from Virginia and we caught 3 kingfish 6 bonitos and yes another Wahoo. It was for sure a Wahoo day.
Well that is all for now we have some bad weather moving in and I am going to eat some Wahoo. So I hope my spelling was a little better and we well be giving you guys more fishing reports when the weather clears up. Well we survived the hurricane. We had a little damage from the hurricane we lost 2 windows which let water leak in. And of course the water fell down inside the boat and broke our refrigerator. Well, our windows ane fixed and the refrigerator is fixed and we are ready to get back to fishing.
On the 27th we tookout Pat, Ralph and Jeff from Fort Lauderdale. We were hoping the hurricane would have blown in some fish. Well, we were wrong and fishsing was very slow. The ocean was still very rough so we turned our all day trip into a four-hour trip. We ended up catching one bonita and one king. Sorry about that guys. I hope we get the chance to make it up to you.
On the 30th Rick, Casey, Skinny, Scott and Mike all from Fort Lauderdale had a great day out. We caught so many kingfish and dolphin that we had to take ice from our beer cooler to keep the fish old. But that turned out not to be a problem. They were drinking the beer so fast that it never got a chance to get warm. Guys, thanks for a fun day and for the very generous tip. On the 30th Joe and Scott from Delaware and from Penn spent the morring fishing with us and we ended up catching 5 nice kingfish.
That same afternoon.Dan, Kurt, Pete, Tom, Wait and Dave all from Jersey spent the afternoon with us. Things started out as usual we caught 8 king fish and a bonito. How ever there was another boat with their friends there was a little computation between both boat and a little friendly wager. So mike and I decided hay lets win this thing. So we decided to put out some live bait and see if we could catch a sailfish. And what the hell we also put out a couple dead kingfish and see if maybe we could get a shark to bite. Well we were not ready for what was about to happen. We got a bite on our bottom bait a dead kingfish. But this was not like a regular shark bite this thing took off like a freight train. It almost dumped a Penn 8 0. We had Dan the man in the chair and there was no way he was going to give up. It took us about 50 min but we did finally catch this monster. It turned out to be a 400 pound thresher shark. And yes one of the biggest I’ve ever had a part in catching. And yes we did smoke the other boat. Thanks guys for a great fun filled afternoon. And I am sure we will be seeing you guys again soon.
Well that wraps it up for this month. I hope I did a better job with my spelling and my grammar. And to my critics thank you very much for all your help. Taco
