March Fishing Reports

March 2003

March is here and we are having a great time fishing. We started the month out with Paul and his friends from Massachusetts and they had a great time landing 5 bonito's and 2 kingfish. On the 11th we had a great trip! We had a group from Illinois State University and they had a blast catching king mackerel, dolphin fish and a 104" hammerhaed shark! Way to go guys!!! On the 14th we had Marcus, Max, Ted and Jim from Long Island, Rhode Island and Connecticut on board and they caught some kingfish and hooked into a sailfish but it broke off before we could get it to the boat. That is why we call it fishing! On the 18th, we had Tim on board and he landed a nice Thrasher shark. On March 22, we had an all day trip with the Ruston boys! We had Robert from Liverpool, New York, Mark from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Lang from Rochester, New York and Mark from Durham, North Carolina. We started the day out doing some trolling and put a bonito in the boat and they we headed off-shore for about 8 miles and caught a dolphin fish, since the trolling wasn't working we discussed some fishing options with the guys and decided to go back in closer to shore and try for something large. After getting set up and waiting for a while the bite came and what a bite it was! The guys landed a nice Mako shark. Mako's are beautiful animals and are not real common for these waters. Nice catch guys and what a great way to end the day! Our next venture out was the 24th. We had George from Illinois and Mike from Winter Haven, Florida on board and they had a great morning of fishing and caught a nice Thrasher shark. That afternoon we had Terry from Pennsylvania on board and he caught a nice hammerhead shark! Next on board was Bob and he also caught a nice Thrasher shark. On the 26th we had a good freind on board. Tim is from Illinois and has been fishing with Captain Taco since he started this business. Needless to say we had a great afternoon with Tim and his friends and landed some dolphin fish and blackfin tuna. It was great seeing you Tim and we look forward to our next fishing trip together! The morning of the 27th we had Ron and his friends on board and they enjoyed catching some dolphin fish and a large shark. That afternoon John Paul was on board and he had a good afternoon catching dolphin fish and kings. We stayed in the morning of the 28th and did our maintenance on the boat so we were ready to go that afternoon. Our afternoon trip was George from New Jersey and Dan and Rick from Ft. Lauderdale and they all enjoyed catching a large Thrasher shark. The morning of the 29th we had Dan, Ilene, Erik, Tim and Robert from Pennsylvania on board with us and they enjoyed a good morning of catching kings, bonito's and a nice grouper fish. That afternoon we had Steve and Pete from Florida and Wolfgang from Hamberg, Germany on board and they enjoyed an afternoon of catching bonito's and then fighting and landing a great gray shark! Way to go!!! Our last trip of the month was a regular customer and friend. Todd is from Michigan and has been fishing with us quite a bit. Today Todd was looking for something big and he found it! After waiting a while he got the bite and hooked into and landed a huge great grey shark! Way to go Todd!
